How rule based Category mapping works in Discogs BigCommerce Integration?
By using DisConnect Integration we can dynamically map one category of Discogs with the BigCommerce category so that it will help you to arrange your products without any confusion.
For that, you need to firstly log in to our integration.

After login, you will land on the dashboard.
From the product dropdown, you will see BigCommerce Mapping Option. After clicking on this option, you will see the BigCommerce Mapping Edit Section.
Here are two options. One is Field Mapping and the other is Category Mapping.
Field Mapping is also a type of dynamic mapping where you can map your Discogs entity with your BigCommerce entity. To know more about it you can click here.
On the right side of Field Mapping, you will see Category Mapping. It is also a type of mapping. But since it has multiple values, its name is category mapping. You can map various Discogs products into your ideal BigCommerce categories with ease.
Here’s how it works:
Step 1: In your BigCommerce account, you need to add categories and tags for the products. You can see the below image for reference.
Then it will be shown in the dropdown in our BigCommerce Category mapping page. After clicking the sync tags & category button.
Step 2: Now, you can choose the particular Discogs entity type(Genre, Style, Format, Media Condition, Sleeve Condition) from there dropdown according to your Discogs product which you have selected to perform category mapping with BigCommerce.
Step 3: Next, you need to select the category of BigCommerce and tags, which you have already added from your BigCommerce account. You can make up to three categories, Parent, Child, and Grand Child category for our category mapping.
You also need to provide the details of the Default Category and Default Tag. Now you can update the entries.
Here it is good to select all the five Discogs conditions correctly to match the products to BigCommerce in the right categories. Otherwise, our integration will take the closest matching mapping . The default category and tags are the same that you have already created in your BigCommerce account. If the condition fails then our integration will automatically look out for the next best fit ( closest matching rule) & choose the categories & tags assigned to it. If there are no closest matching records, we will choose the default values for the category and tags which you have provided. After clicking on the update button, the mapping rules are set and your Discogs products will now fall under the respective BigCommerce category with the corresponding tags, should the conditions fit the criterion.
If you want more conditions(rules) to determine how your Discogs listing will sync & appear on your BigCommerce store, set up more rules for corresponding categories & tags by clicking on the Add Row option.
Tips:
- 1. If you would like to create mappings on your BigCommerce store based on Genres like Rock, Pop, etc,
Do the following
When you create your first mapping rule, Select the respective genre(s) first followed by “All Styles” or the actual styles(s) which belong to the genre previous selected and “All Formats” of your Discogs Listings and then select your corresponding BigCommerce Category (Named based on the Format say Rock) and the corresponding Tag that you’ve already created on your BigCommerce store from the drop down.
You can create multiple rows for every category/tag you’d like to create on your BigCommerce website.
- 2. If you would like to create mappings on your BigCommerce store based on Formats like CDs, Vinyls, etc,
Do the following
When you create your first mapping rule, Select “All Genres” , “All Styles” and then select the “Format” of your Discogs Listings and then select your corresponding BigCommerce Category( Named based on the Format say CD) and the corresponding Tag that you’ve already created on your BigCommerce store from the drop down.
You can create multiple rows for every category/tag you’d like to create on your BigCommerce website.
This is how BigCommerce Categeory mapping works. Once you’re done with field & category mapping, check out the Attributes mapping and then wrap it up by configuring the final settings on your Discogs & BigCommerce channel settings and you’re now ready to start syncing your products from Discogs to BigCommerce.
